Cracking Derwentwater Brown Trout taken on the mayfly by 13 year old Edward Ross
April 3rd. Derwent at Portinscale high and slightly coloured no surface activity but a chance to a couple of tungsten beaded nymphs soon gained the interest of a fair few of these spotties, nice to see so many have weathered the storm.
Good turnout of people approx 20. We collected 40 bags and 4 dumpy bags of rubbish from Portinscale bridge down river to clay holes. We started at 10.00 am and finished at 1.00 pm. A big thank you to Ian Creighton from W.C.R.T for organizing and arranging the clearance of the rubbish. A good day.
We do not want to discourage people from walking their dogs in the countryside as it has health benefits for both owner and pet, but making sure your dog is on a lead near livestock prevents avoidable attacks and keeps your dog safe too.
Lake trout caught and returned on a dry fly from the K.A.A Derwent fishing below Portinscale. It was spotted taking very small flies on the edge of a back eddy on a bright June day. First drift under the overhanging tree, nose came up and... this was the result. Photo supplied by Eric Hope, Hemmingways [...]
